One of the major pieces that ScreenSteps seems to be missing, and that would make my life as a technical writer much easier in the long run, is some kind of image library. I find myself capturing or copying the same screenshots over and over for various reasons. ScreenSteps makes it easy to author new articles fast, but I am dreading the maintenance.
Case in point: we have some major UI updates for our software in the pipeline, and the hundreds of articles (potentially thousands of screenshots) that were created before my time will all need to be updated one by one as a result. By me. The lone technical writer. ;)
So here I am, fantasizing about how nice it would be if I could create one perfect, standardized screenshot for a menu or screen and then just reference that screenshot (with different annotations) across all the articles that use it. Then, when I have to update the image, I could just go in and adjust my annotations and a tweak a bit of text here and there...
Food for thought, eh?
